Back in the day, travelers used to capture memories of their travels through art or writing. Putting pen to paper or paintbrush to paper preserved their travel stories and the everlasting joy they felt. Today, while some still capture the most memorable days of their excursions that way, the majority have resorted to social media.

Unlike our ancestors, using social media, you have the opportunity to share the best times of your adventures with friends and family almost instantly. Instagram is one of those platforms you may use to share your best travel pictures, storing them there forever. Like how our ancestors may have worried about painting the most beautiful picture of scenery or writing an account of an adventure flawlessly, today the attention has shifted to capturing the most amazing images for the ‘gram!

So, here are some of the most IG-worthy spots in Sri Lanka, that’ll give your Instagram account an aesthetically pleasing appearance!

  • Dalawella beach

If you type in ‘Sri Lanka’ into any search engine, you’ll bump into an image of a coconut tree, on a sandy beach, leaning towards the ocean. On a rope tied onto the coconut tree, there may be a person swinging over the ocean.

That exquisite image is from Dalawella beach in Sri Lanka. Dalaeella is situated a few kilometers past Galle.

So many tourists flock here for the picture described above, so it may be slightly crowded most of the time.

  • Nine Arch Bridge

The Nine arch bridge lifts the railway track from Badulla to Ella. Wear your walking shoes, as the road to the Bridge is not the most effortless. Be careful of the train that still uses the rail track and seek advice from the locals about the train times.

  • Arugam Bay

Arugambay is ideal for those who have an interest in surfing, as the seasonal waves are fitting, attracting a crowd of local and foreign surfers.

  • Pidurangala Rock

Used to be a monastery, the Pidurangala rock is a great fit for those who don’t mind a somewhat tough climb. Once you are at the top, the view is fantastic.

  • Sigiriya Rock

Sigiriya rock is one of the world’s man-made wonders. The rock is linked with numerous legends, the most famous ones being King Ravana’s connection to the kingdom and King Kashyapa’s story that unfolded at the Sigiriya rock.

Regardless, Sigiriya is a cultural and historical gem that is worthy of being one of the most vital additions to the tour in Sri Lanka.
